With this perspective, we tried to express that learners must be motivated at the time of learning something; for this reason, they should think that the material they’re learning will be useful and relevant to their lives. To achieve this goal, teachers should teach in an effective way; not only giving examples according to the real topic and activities that involve students with real life situations, but also giving the correct help and feedback every time a student needs it. In this way, students and teachers will seek a balance between caring and challenging; in other words, teachers create a learning environment that provides challenging and supportive conditions in which learners are able to feel a comfortable classroom environment at the time of working either with their classmates or alone. When their assignment is finished, students believe that their work will be considered fairly and honestly and they will receive the suitable feedback. Another thing that we tried to present in this poster is that teachers help learners set achievable goals and reinforce their effort, as we can see in two pictures. About the quote: “It only takes ONE negative comment TO KILL a dream. Remember that next time” we consider that Nurturing perspective tries to avoid it because some teachers instead of giving support to their students, give their own thinking even though it means a negative opinion. All in all, we thought that this perspective is completely accepted by students because we, as future English teachers, fully agree that the Nurturing Perspective is one of the most influential perspectives nowadays.
